ADXL354 Key Features

Ultra-low noise for capturing minute vibrations: The ADXL354 features a noise density as low as approximately 20–22.5 µg/√Hz, representing a roughly 5-fold improvement in noise performance compared to the previous-generation ADXL203. This capability enables precise resolution of extremely low-level vibration and acceleration signals, making it an ideal choice for applications such as Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and seismic imaging.

Low zero-offset drift simplifies calibration: Temperature drift at 0 g offset is as low as 0.15 mg/°C. Combined with the excellent long-term stability provided by the hermetically sealed package, this allows the system to maintain measurement accuracy over a wide temperature range and during long-term operation without frequent calibration, significantly reducing lifecycle maintenance costs.

Analog Output for Flexible Design: Unlike models with digital output, the ADXL354 directly provides three analog voltage signals (XOUT, YOUT, ZOUT), which can be connected directly to the analog inputs of external ADCs, microcontrollers, or dedicated acquisition circuits. Users can also flexibly adjust the analog output bandwidth via an external capacitor to balance response speed and noise suppression as needed.

Ultra-low power consumption, ideal for continuous monitoring: The current consumption is only 150 µA in measurement mode and 21 µA in standby mode. For wireless sensor networks or battery-powered monitoring nodes that require long-term, continuous vibration data acquisition, this power consumption level helps significantly extend device battery life or reduce the burden on power supply design.

Integrated Temperature Sensor and Electromechanical Self-Test: The on-chip temperature sensor assists the system with temperature compensation; the electromechanical self-test function allows verification of the sensor’s mechanical integrity during system startup or operation, enhancing system reliability.

Typical Application Scenarios

The ADXL354’s low-noise, low-drift, and analog output characteristics give it distinct advantages in the following areas:

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM): Low-level vibration monitoring of large structures such as bridges and buildings to detect structural defects early.

Seismic Imaging and Monitoring: Capturing faint ground motion signals for seismic wave analysis and imaging.

Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs)/Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS): Providing highly stable acceleration inputs for attitude calculation and navigation in drones and unmanned systems.

Platform Stabilization Systems: Enables high-precision tilt feedback in precision optical platforms and antenna stabilization platforms.

Tilt Detection and Robotics: Utilizes low-drift characteristics to enable tilt angle measurement without frequent calibration, serving industrial robots and automated equipment.

Industrial Condition Monitoring: Extracts early-failure vibration signatures from rotating machinery and industrial equipment.
