II. Key Technical Features

This series is based on Infineon’s second-generation CoolSiC™ trench silicon carbide technology, which delivers a 20% to 35% improvement in key Figure of Merit (FOM) metrics compared to the previous generation, offering the following significant advantages:

Ultra-low switching losses: Industry-leading RDS(on)×Qfr, RDS(on)×Qoss and RDS(on)×QG parameters significantly reduce power losses in both hard-switching and soft-switching topologies, helping power supply systems achieve efficiencies exceeding 97 per cent.

High robustness and reliability: 100% avalanche test compliance, capable of withstanding high-voltage busbar conditions exceeding 500 V, and effectively resisting parasitic conduction effects.

Outstanding thermal performance: Utilising Infineon’s patented .XT diffusion bonding process, it delivers excellent heat dissipation, with a maximum operating junction temperature of 175 °C (up to 200 °C for certain models) and extremely low thermal resistance.

Simplified driver design: A low Crss/Ciss ratio combined with a high gate threshold voltage VGS(th) supports unipolar gate driving (0 V turn-off), reducing the complexity of the driver circuit; independent drive source pins improve current sharing in high-power multi-device parallel configurations.


III. Typical Applications: AI Servers and Data Centres

The IMBG75R series is specifically designed for high-frequency, high-voltage, high-power power supply applications, with AI servers being its core application area:

AI server power supplies (PSUs): Totem-pole PFC boost circuits and LLC/CLLC resonant DC-DC converters, meeting the instantaneous high-current power supply requirements of high-power GPUs (such as the NVIDIA H100 and B200).

Data centre power supply architecture: three-phase high-voltage server power supplies and high/low-voltage DC-DC conversion, helping to reduce the PUE energy consumption metric in data centres.

Energy storage and backup power: data centre energy storage converters (PCS) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Other industrial applications: photovoltaic inverters, commercial and industrial energy storage, DC charging station power modules, high-power UPS systems, solid-state circuit breakers (SSCBs), etc.
